There's nothing about their backstory or mission thats a reference it self, but the way their comman structure, and ship operate is very reminiscent at least, and the color coordinated departments, in this case command purple, security yellow, and science as a whole is blue(ie: engineering, medical, research, etc etc) seems a pretty blatant reference to me.
