Is BB killing shanks too predictable?

Oda is extremely unpredictable with his writing, it seems the average fan believes BB will kill shanks. With all the history between them it seems a fight is all but certain & you would think BB has to win since he’s the final antagonist. But is this too straight forward for Oda? How else could it play out? Does Shanks have to die in this story?
