Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra delivers a mixed program

The orchestra's recent concert at Lighthouse, Poole, mixed works by Tippett, Vaughan Williams, Adès, and Sibelius under chief conductor Mark Wigglesworth. The Tippett concerto stood out, while the Sibelius Fifth Symphony was played with strong personality. The program may have seemed unusual on paper, but the performance revealed a shared creative struggle with musical tradition and innovation.
