When trick-or-treating gets weird: potatoes, toothbrushes, and bags of hair

If you're heading out for Halloween this year, you might expect to come home with a pillowcase full of candy. But some neighbors have a different idea of what to hand out. People have shared online that they've received items like a raw potato, a toothbrush, or even a bag of hair instead of sweets. These strange surprises are real examples of what some households give out on Halloween night. Why it matters: it shows that not every door follows the candy script, so kids and parents might want to be ready for anything — or at least a good story.
