Review

Fishing systems combine timing-based hook sets and drag management with RPG-style skill trees that unlock better casting ranges and specialized lures, while multiplayer zones let players observe or compete for the same hotspots in real time. Water surfaces show shifting light and ripples, fish models vary by species and size, and audio layers include line tension clicks, water splashes, and distant bird calls without background music. The experience suits players who enjoy slow, methodical simulation loops and long-term stat progression rather than fast action or narrative focus.

went in for maybe two casts on Russian Fishing 4 and the next thing i knew it was four in the morning. i only kept going because the fish kept putting up real pull, not the usual rubber-band crap where you just mash the button and win. one pike nearly took the rod right out of my hands; the rod tip kept dipping so hard i thought the line was about to pop.

still, once the sun came up i started getting snagged on every rock. had to cut off twice and the game doesn’t give you enough cheap line, so you end up fishing one-handed while swapping gear with the other. the death-by-boredom loop is what finally made me shut it down. if they don’t tighten up how often you lose tackle to invisible snags, the only thing left to grind is your patience.

might go back tonight, but only if i can find a spot where the fish actually fight instead of just hanging on the line like dead weight.
