Starfield and wandering
What about it?
I love Skyrim, but after playing it for so long, exploration has become less fun. While it may feel like you're in the middle of the wilderness surrounded by the aspen trees of the Rift, I know in the back if my mind that Riften is just over that mountain less than a mile away. Having explored every cranny, exploration feels kinda dead.
Skyrim uses a lot of clever tricks to make you think the map is bigger than it really is; the mountains (which are actually not very tall) are covered in clouds, the fog distance is quite low and bathes distant terrain (which is actually not very distant) in blue mist, and the roads and pathways are laid out in a way that guides you on winding paths where mountains block your views.
In Starfield, none of that will be necessary, there won't be any illusions. When you land in your ship and walk in a straight line into the forest for five miles, you really are going to be five miles into the wilderness, and there will be no Riften just a five minute walk away. The sense of isolation and exploration will be real. And the knowledge that you could run into a new location, or a new enemy type, or a random encounter, will only enhance that feeling.
Tldr walking around in the space game will be pretty cool ðŸ‘
