What about it?

Coasters are foam sheet on bottom, then plywood, and gorilla glue to hold the ceramic chips down. Question is what can I use that will hold up to cold beverages to almost grout but fill in the gaps for the coaster surfaces? I can tape off the edges and use a lot more gorilla glue, was thinking clear caulk but it would be harder to spread, not sure how spackle would hold up, and have zero epoxy experience. The wood part was easier, just 4” squares glued and pressed to foam craft sheets.

Took me an unholy amount of time to prep this piece of Elm as my first project, trying to make a coffee table. What should I finish it with? I only want to make grain pop and give it some protection., would Beeswax do it? I've tried BLO on a piece of scrap and couldn't get it to dry whatsoever.

What's the best way to remove these nails?

I would like to reuse them and not damage the wood in the process. The hinge needs to be bent back into place and I figured it would be easier to remove the entire hinge and reinstall

This was sold to me as walnut, but after cleaning it up it looks much more red than any walnut I’ve ever worked with. I could be wrong, but wondering if anyone can confidently say what wood this is.

Sub, I’d rather not have to lug this table out of my apartment, sand it down, and refinish it. Is there any kind of finish that I can just put on top of this?

Hi guys! Newbie woodworking enthusiast here. I bought an 100 year old home and discovered the solid wood doors. What a gem and also a pain to strip off 100 years of paint! Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is? I have my guess but want a more solid answer! 😊 Thank you in advance!

What’s going on with this stain?

Howdy. Just making some shelves. I sanded the boards with 120 grit. Vacuumed them off. Now I’m testing out stains. Any ideas what’s causing these tiny lines that are impervious to stain? This area is Minwax stain. I also tried some water based wood dye in another area with the same result. I believe the wood is white oak. Appreciate any help.

Help please experts. Any idea what type of wood this is? I believe it’s from an old dining table and I’m using it in a beginners project.

Using sapwood from pine?

What about it?

I split out a chunk from a pine log that I want to use for a stool seat. I’d like keep the whole width because it’s only 10”, but that includes sapwood. I want to have final thickness at 2”. Also, Will pine check: Should I seal the ends?
