Would a tattoo of this style, size and placement be too much for a first tattoo?

My scoliosis/spinal fusion commemoration tattoo

I have had severe scoliosis for most of my life. I have a genetic disorder that caused it. I had my first back surgery when I was 8 years old, when they drilled two metal rods into my spine held into place with screws. It was so severe that my organs were in danger of being damaged by my spine, so we didn’t do bracing, my family had no choice but to go right to surgery. Because I was so young and still growing then, they only fused a few of my vertebrae. But my scoliosis progressed so fast that when I was 12 I needed to have more vertebrae fused. I was fused from T2-T12, all but one of my thoracic vertebrae. Then, at 22, one of my rods cracked and I had to have all my hardware replaced! This tattoo is meant to look like my x ray images, with 2 long metal rods and 14 screws. I wanted a tattoo that was designed with as few lines as possible, to look as much like one continuous line as possible. This is what my artist came up with and I love it. It commemorates a lifetime struggle, and having to go through one of the most hard and painful things I’ve ever done THREE TIMES. I’m so proud of it

Tattoo design I’m working on. Any idea on how to make the third leg less suggestive?

This design is based off of Matisse’s “The Fall of Icarus”. I added a third leg and cockroach antennae as a reference to my favorite book, “The Passion According to G.H.,” by Clarice Lispector. Unfortunately, the third leg looks a bit….phallic, at least in my opinion. Any ideas on how to rework, if it’s even needed?

Need help with cover up design

I got this tattoo to cover up a stick and poke from college. The artist told me he could tattoo over it with skin colored ink but that didn’t work. Can I get ideas on what would look good and cover up the areas that are sticking out on the bottom of skull?

Mirrored bird chest tattoo design

I have wanted a mirrored chest tattoo for a long time. I have been back and forth on ideas and designs. I like the look of swallows but I think I want something different. I thought of the idea of mirrored male and female cardinals. Whats your opinion? Good idea or bad idea? Or should I just get the swallows? Thanks!
