Fish baton

I made a baton to give the fish I catch a swift death. I was tired of using whatever I had. I’ve been holding onto a chunk of 1” stainless solid bar for years, waiting for its purpose to become apparent. I found it in a scrap bin at work and thought I could use it. I’ve used it here and there to punch bolts that were stuck out and other random things but mainly it lived in the windowsill. I finally figured out it’s purpose when I recently started fishing again. The baton is 11” and I cut a 2” piece of the bar and set it in epoxy in a 1” deep pocket in the end. The wood is from a 3”x3 1/2” Lauan pallet skid. Finished with Teak Oil

I know this is a longshot and probably the wrong subreddit but I have a wooden post from a totem pole concreted into this. What is a way to remove it without destroying the concrete?

Help! How do I seal this?

We had custom built in cabinets put in on either side of the fireplace. I chose a beautiful saman butcher block for the top (the live edge was the big seller). The info on the site says it is finished with a UV finish. The gentleman who did the cabinets said we need to seal the wood. What do I use? How many coats? Do I need to sand? It feels pretty smooth already. PLEASE HELP

I was left with two giant butcher block. What is a good use for these?

These two butcher block were acquired from a candy company that closed out. They both are 2' x 5' one of them measuring 3 inches thick the other one measuring 2 inches thick. I was going to use these countertops in the kitchen I was redoing, but I think it would be more work than what I would like to do considering that these need to be planned, and I don't have access to a planner. I've tried sanding them with an orbital sander by hand and gums up a little bit due to the residue on them. Having said that, I think I need to put a little more effort into finishing them off, but what uses do you think these would have? They are too heavy to move around often. Oddly, I am making a Koi pond and thought about using these as the main shelves of a bonsai rack. I was also going to make a Cobb oven outside and integrate these into the top somehow but this would be left out year long and don't think that that would be the best idea if I'm gonna use it for food. Anyways, I'm looking for some creative uses.

What type of caulk

Turning a plastic toddler bed into a sandbox for my son. Cut wood to fit bottom, but it is not completely rectangular so there are gaps. Going to be outside under a covered porch. What type of caulk / silicon, or other product would be best for filling those gaps so sand doesn't leak through. Thanks in advance.

Help with turning wood bowl to a planter.

I’ve heard that putting soil and water into a wooden bowl will cause the wood to rot. Should I use a soil liner with or can I just use flex seal on the inside to seal the inside and drainage hole.

First time trying this

It’s still a work in progress. It’s my first time carving a flower. I’m making this for my grandfather who recently passed away. I’m thinking of carving his name underneath and writing something on the back before i oil it. My question is: since i don’t often oil over something written, would it make the letters run depending on what it’s written with? And is there anything else i could add to it?

Outdoor Rough Sawn Cedar Table

I made this outdoor table/storage out of rough sawn cedar, but I am not sure how to finish it and try to maintain the beautiful color. I understand it will require maintenue and re-applications at least 1-2 times a year. Also would prefer to have it look as natural as possible, which I am sure is difficult. I just don’t want to end up with a really thick, shiny coating on top of the wood. I have never applied a finish to a rough sawn face, so I am really not sure what type of finish to use, especially for outdoors. I am guessing I want something that gets absorbed into the wood, like a penetrating oil. Not to get brand focused, but I picked up some Osmo UV Protection oil. I am looking for better suggestions or feedback on that choice. I have tried Google searches and searching the sub here, but looking for additional help. Thanks!

Pine exterior door Refreshing this 117 year old beauty

OK I’ve owned and worked this house for 20 some years. It’s time for round two with the front door! Here it is ! Will take my time and surely have decisions that I’ll need and want your suggestions on! Enjoy the ride with me! Paint is not an option. This will be oil and varnish only! Current state. The spar varnish was mostly gone south of the window. I sanded that but it needs more. Above and around the window the 20 YO spar varnish held up. I’ve removed most of it with a heat gun this morning. Plan is to remove and repair or replace trim around the glass. Sand and seal perhaps with shellac to even up the grain color. Then move to Waterlox sealer and perhaps their Marine top coat. At least 3 sealer + 2 top coats. Yes I’ll be at this for a while!
