Need a plan on how best to seal countertops
Moving into a house with a lot of pretty wooden countertops (not sure type of wood). Wood surrounds sink as well. Our inspector noted we should seal it all up. I already love the natural color and tone so I'm not interested in staining it with additional color. I've read so many different things on different sealants/finishes and I'm overwhelmed. Leaning using Osmo Polyx? Maybe?
We don't plan to cut directly on the wood.
It will be a high use kitchen.
Have small children and anticipate dings and whatnot. Okay with it not being pristine, and expect some wear and tear.
Don't have time to uninstall all of the tops and move them to a better ventilated area. So ideally something that won't gas us out over the next month.
Don't have time to apply multiple coats/dry time over several days (like Waterlox). But can manage a couple of days total.
Worried about the moisture area around the sink.
First I thought oil based polyurethane, then water based, then onto mineral oil, then waterlox, then Osmo Polyx, then Rubio Monocoat, and now I'm back to thinking Osmo Polyx may be the best bet? Please help. I'm already stressed about a ton of other things to complete and I need a plan.
How do I get a stuck router bit out of a collet chuck?
I just got a new bosch router and this is the second time I've gotten a router bit stuck in the collet chuck. I've tried knocking it loose by using just about every suggestion online and it budged a little, but now it is completely locked in.
I've already accepted the fact that I will be buying a new collet chuck since this one was pretty much destroyed in the process.
How do I in the future prevent this from happening again?
I also had a very hard time removing the chuck from the shaft of the router, am I just tightening the chuck to tight?
Router tip
This is how you want to tighten and loosen router bits. Flip the larger wrench for a smaller space between them when loosening.
1, It keeps you from over-tightening.
2, It allows total control when loosening, even if the collet nut is stuck pretty good.
I always only use the spindle lock for finger tightening while raising the bit a few mm so it just grabs the bit before I use the wrenches.
How to get spot out of island?
Hi all,
We had a ring form on our island and my gf attempted to scrub it out with the rough side of a sponge, and now we have a ring AND this ugly pale spot. Is there anything we can do to fix this, or at least make it less noticeable? We just got this house and now it’s all I see when I go into the kitchen and it’s driving me absolutely mad. Any help is appreciated.
