I got scammed. A $130 profit +$40 time and labor on a $90 part should be criminal.

My TVs display light went out. I sorted through various repair companies and chose this one because of the many years in business and good reviews. Upon drop off at their repair shop, I was informed of a non refundable $40 fee for inspecting and repairing the TV. If any parts were needed, I would be responsible for paying for the parts. I was skeptical to say the least. The young man working in the shop assured me that this was a very common, very simple repair and that he was extremely confident that the cost of my repair would be significantly less than purchasing a new TV. He told me it may not need new parts at all and led me to believe that it would not cost much more than the $40 time and labor fee. This couldn’t have been more misleading. I received their repair quote via text message two days later for $220 in addition to the $40 I’d already payed. (This quote included a 30 day warranty. Extended warranty options cost even more.) My TV only cost $280 brand new. When I called and spoke to the owner about this, he informed me that he may be able to find the part at a cheaper price and to give him a day or so. The next day I got a new quote for $150 plus the $40 I’d already payed. During this time, I researched the part needed and found it brand new on multiple sites for $90, give or take. I informed the owner of this and he essentially told me that they mark up the cost of parts for profit after already charging a non refundable $40 time and labor fee. A $130 profit +$40 time and labor on a $90 part should be criminal. The last I spoke with the owner, maybe a week ago, he told me he would call me back in a day or two with a better quote. I haven’t heard from him. At this point, because I’ve payed a non refundable $40 fee, all I can do is cut my losses. I don’t trust these guys. They can keep my old TV as I fear any good parts in it have been gutted and repurposed at a gross markup. Some people have had good experiences with this company, I did not. I was mislead and manipulated at every turn and eventually conned out of $40 and my damaged TV, not to mention my own time and resources in dropping off the TV and keeping up with their fraudulent repair quotes.

Someone got interrupted while siphoning my gas last night and now I have to figure out what to do with this loose gasoline

And it's the second time my locking gas cap has been bypassed. I'd rather they actually got the gas - not only did they probably get a mouthful of gas for nothing, but now I have to dispose of it.
