Radiology said my kitty could have a fungal bone infection or cancer. He’s only 3 and I’m freaking out a little. Anyone have/had a similar situation?

He’s been limping a bit for the past month and we took him to get checked. (He’s a strictly indoor cat and has been since we adopted him from the shelter.) They took X-rays and sent them to a radiology consult, which came back today with the possibility of it being a fungal infection or cancer. I’m a PhD student and don’t make a lot of money, and I know tripod kitties live a pretty good life. But if it’s bone cancer I’m deathly afraid of it spreading and of how painful it is. He’s getting a fungal serology exam to see if they find anything, and if not, they suggested a chest X-ray and probably a biopsy. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice to keep my head on straight? 🥲 He’s my baby boy.
