Big spider on my step

Are these some kind of aphid or adelgid? And are they a problem?

They’re absolutely coating the branches of most of the American beech trees in this forest. The ground beneath is also coated in dark purplish grey stuff, presumably their droppings

Landed on the window of my work truck, never seen one quite like this.

The body was red and yellow

I found it by my kitchen sink and we also have a gnat infestation. This was the best picture I could get
