Extrude 0.25in circle into square piece
Hello,
I’m new to wood working so any insight wood be really appreciated.
The goal: extrude a circle into the square wood piece 0.25inches.
What I’ve tried: using a cove 0.5inch router bit on a palm router and a drill press.
What is the best way to do this?
Can these blotchy spots be removed or is it just the permanent coloring of the wood?
I’m not sure what causes this discoloration, but are the dark splotches something that can be fixed/removed somehow? Or it is just an ugly, blotchy piece of wood? I want to use this slab for a wedding “guest book†and planned on sanding it down real nice, but it’s not looking good.
Wipe-on Poly over Poly+Stain?
Looking for advice on a dining table. Top is a 9’ long slab. We used Behr Poly+Stain to finish it and we have three thin coats applied. Happy with the color, but not the uneven gloss. At this point, I don’t want to add any more color and I’m wondering if I could do a wipe on poly over this finish to get it more even.
I’ve had some good luck with wipe on poly in the past and we’re looking for a satin or low gloss finish.
Help! Why is my wood stain leaving lines in the wood?
(ignore the blue tape)
I’ve been trying to stain some ash wood (for a guitar project) and I’ve been practice staining some scrap ash wood. However, every time I try to stain it, it leaves these streaks/lines of unstained wood. Why isn’t my stain working?
I’m using a trans-tint dye (red mahogany).
I’ve mixed it with water, water + denatured alcohol, and pure denatured alcohol; I’ve tried sanding to different grits and pre-raising the wood and sanding, and NOTHING WORKS.
Someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong.
