I logged into NBA 2K27 around nine and meant to play a couple games before bed. Instead I spent the next two hours deciding whether to rest my starting center or push him through another three-game road trip. The pacing never gives you a moment where you can just click play and watch the match. Every pause is another screen of contract negotiations and morale charts.
One moment that stuck out was when the game asked me to pick between three training drills before the next game. None of the choices felt different enough to matter, yet I still stared at the list like it would change the outcome of anything later.
The thing that always stops me from staying longer is the way every session turns into spreadsheet management. I like the idea of building a player, but after the tenth menu prompt about fatigue or trade value, I start wondering if the actual gameplay is worth all the stop-and-go.
