Played for almost an hour and the first thing that stood out was how long the opening took. Walked the character across a plain just to talk to someone who gave me another walk across the same plain. The combat clicked after a while. One string of light attacks turned into a short combo that actually staggered a pack of wolves, so I kept pressing buttons until the rhythm felt natural.
Black Desert still feels stretched in places. Twenty straight minutes were just me riding from one marker to the next with almost nothing happening in between. I pressed the sprint key, watched the scenery, and waited.
I get why people like the life skills, but I’m not sure I want to spend an afternoon fishing or cooking just to buy a better sword. The one time I stopped to gather herbs, the animation played every single time and I started counting the seconds. It’s fine for what it is, but I still expect more movement in a game that calls itself an open world.
