Reviews where I am about to play

Wanted to take a look at the reviews of a course I am going to play this week on a work trip. My buddy couldn't get me on his private course due to an event. I am not sure what to look forward to if their tee boxes, fairways, greens, and cart paths are in disrepair with a bad pace of play. LOL. But I will be golfing with a friend. I am sure it will be worth putting $3k worth of clubs into a soft bag for a flight.

Play Better with Better Players

Here are my most recent rounds from GHIN. All but two are by myself. The other two (the 96 and 97) are while playing with my buddy who is a 10 handicap. It sure looks like I play better when either just with someone else or with a better player. I’m guessing this causes me to focus more. Anyone else have thoughts on it?

Hockey boots for golf?

I have a pair of turf/field hockey boots with sharpish but very shallow nibs. They’re waterproof and so I’m thinking they might be nice to use for golf instead of having to buy specific golf shoes (or spending a dewy morning with soggy feet in running shoes). Any thoughts on these shoes and using them for golf? Will the green keepers get mad? 😊

My body is ready. Almost. All new setup.

Still waiting on putter and 5w to come in any day now. Playing PGA Frisco West in a couple weeks. Fucking STOKED. Last set was 15yr old Taylor Mades with a few graphite Wilson Pro Staffs from jr. high even (3/5w/P) and a used Odyssey white hot blade from high school. Left my clubs at a resort earlier this year and they got lost/stolen. Anyone played Fields Ranch West? Hired a forecaddie.

I play in a Thursday night league after work and this past week I put together the best 9 holes of my life!! 1 over 36!!

Right now my 9 hole handicap is a 6, so I usually hover around the low 40s each week with the occasional 39. Guy I was playing against was also a 6, so we had an even matchup. At first he was getting a little pissed that I was winning every hole, but after like 5-6 holes, he was sort of rooting for me to keep it going. We get to 18 and I sink a 25 footer for birdie and he just laughs and says to me “Damn dude I can’t even be mad. That was incredible to watch!”. There really is nothing like having complete confidence in every club your grab ALL IN THE SAME ROUND!! I’ve only ever broken 80 just one time earlier this summer with a 79, so the only thing I was pissed about was that it was getting too dark by the time we finished that I couldn’t go play the front 9 to see what I could have scored for a full 18!!

Broke 40 for the first time on 9!

2nd to last week of our league and I shot a 39! I’m not sure how accurate my handicap is because we have a handicap for the front and back. If I add them together I’m a 21 handicap. Not a super difficult course I know. But still proud of myself. My 2nd year doing a league, first full year and I’m excited to keep getting better. I used to only get out about 6-7 times a year and now golfing 20 straight weeks has really seemed to help. Hopefully in the near future I can get some lessons to really keep improving. Anyway, just wanted to make a post cause I don’t have many friends to tell about it!
