I spent the first twenty minutes choosing paths across the cliffs and figuring out who gets roped to who before any real movement starts. At one point the rock under the lead scout shifted and we had to backtrack the whole line to reset the connections.

The coordination there felt solid once it clicked. Everything else moved slower than it needed to, with long stretches of checking holds and waiting for weather to settle before the next step.

It never really changes what you are doing even when the island looks different. You don't reach the PEAK fast enough to make the repetition worthwhile.

Pushed through that night run after picking heavy missiles for the ground battery cluster. Locked on the third pass and watched the whole formation break up exactly like the briefing said it would.

The jet handling felt tight the whole way until the parameters shifted and my wingman never called the incoming missile. That death was cheap, pure and simple, no warning, no chance to dodge.

ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE still needs another patch on how those relationship hits actually play out in the moment.

I sat down thinking twenty minutes would be enough to try one fight. It stretched out because nothing resolves quickly.

You end up studying the same creature's attacks for longer than the actual fight takes. In MONSTER HUNTER RISE that means swapping tools when one approach stops working after a few dodges.

The pacing feels uneven once you're in. A lot of that time is just moving to the next spot or prepping instead of direct combat.

It hooks you into one more adjustment even when you planned to stop.
